Web27 feb. 2008 · The new 3001-001 is slightly more powerful than the original -- they changed the magnet they used resulting in a stronger motor which will make more noise. It should be quieter once installed drawing a load -- i.e. the motor engaged with full platter via belt/pulley. Over time the motor should quiet down a bit. I see it heats up to 45-50 Deg C after 30-40 min of idle run and stay that hot.
